Did you know we have an inner-city Community Centre? And it's for you as inner-city residents
What is our community centre for?
Te Pokapū Hapori is the name on the sign - which also means that it’s the inner-city’s community centre - available for everyone living in ‘our patch’ - inner city Wellington.
So that means it is a space that local residents can use and can help to shape its role and purpose in our community.
What could it be used for?
You might be living in a small apartment in one of our over 125 apartment buildings in the inner-city with no space to meet your friends or neighbours. This community centre is a flexible space and it’s local - so how about using it as a location for…:
your local Body Corp meetings?
holding a local children’s birthday party?
a place for your board games group?
holding a quiz night for your apartment building?
showing off the work of your local arts and crafts group?
coming together for a local talk with an expert?
a regular gathering place for your local community group?
sharing your gardening ideas or recipes with your neighbours?
using it as a quiet study space?
writing your next novel?
accessing its computers or big TV screens for a Zoom with distant whānau
screening your video masterpiece or memories to whānau/friends on its TV screens
and maybe even as a rehearsal space for your band?
It has computers, big TV screens and wifi - as well as a small kitchen area (microwaves, oven, sink, fridge etc) and it has couches, tables and chairs - it’s your space as a resident of the inner-city - so why not explore some ideas with Ruvi, who manages it.
