Let’s Celebrate

  • Join us for a CENTRAL PICNIC that launches a month of celebration in Te Whanganui a Tara
    Saturday 4 March.

You are welcomed to book a meal ( Book a meal )with the option of giving a koha which will help fund more activities in our city and well as support the mahi of the amazing organisations and people involved.

If you would like to contribute to our event either through music, games or volunteering on the day, please let us know.

There will be a small number of meals available on the day for those who wish to try their luck and "walk up".

Launching a month of community connection

Local Food Week (LFW) is an annual Autumn festival that celebrates Wellington's local food producers and food system. It is organised alongside Neighbours Aotearoa whose campaign promotes sharing, growing and celebrating with our neighbours, this year's theme is "Let’s Share". Seeds to Feeds Harvest Festival celebrates local community kai through community-led events, think community meals, picnics and more.

LFW runs 4th - 11th of March and this year's theme is “Manaakitanga: nourishing community through kai”.

Seeds to Feeds and Neighbours Aotearoa both run the length of March.

To launch all of these initiatives we are hosting a big central picnic. We will have a buffet of delicious, nourishing local kai, made by some of our city's local food hero's.

This is event is brought to you by our wonderful Te Aro (Central Wellington) Seeds to Feeds crew, BGI, Everybody Eats and Wellington City Council.

WHAT TO BRING:
- Picnic set up, including plate, cutlery and cup (we will have some on hand if needed)
- Sun protection

Guests are welcome from 1 pm following on we will have a blessing and opening at 1.30 pm

Kai will be shared at 2 pm with fun and games throughout
