Free concerts! - Te Papa is celebrating Māori language music

From Te Papa

Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome!

Minaaka Music invites you to celebrate Māori language music during Waitangi weekend 2023.

Come along to our marae, Rongomaraeroa, for three free concerts, featuring award-winning local Māori language artists, a special MC, special guests, and more.

Minaaka Music has a passion for the arts, and a desire to keep original te reo Māori music at the forefront of hearts and minds.

In conjunction with Wellington City Council, and Te Papa, Minaaka Music presents a collective of artists who are knowledgeable in their fields of artistry, skillful in their delivery, and proficient practitioners of te reo Māori.

Individually, each group brings a wealth of knowledge to their performances. And collectively, these artists have spent their lives working in Kohanga Reo, Kura Māori, Wānanga, Māori radio, Māori television, and kapa haka, as well as publishing and creating resources for kohanga, kura, wānanga, and online digital services.
