Upgrade work will begin in June. The major changes over the next few months will be an increase in footpath space, designed to reduce confrontations, new planter boxes, and more outdoor dining spaces.
The public toilets will be moved to Inglewood Pl in 2023, after Wellington Water finishes constructing a new wastewater pump.
The council has also granted a resource consent for the demolition of Dreamgirls, a strip club across the road from Te Aro park, which it hopes will go-ahead over the next few years.
