Where are the inner-city streams running under our feet?

Sometime in the 1870s the Kumototo Stream was the first stream to be piped. It now runs underneath Woodward St and you can hear the sound of running water to remind us its there from speakers in the pedestrian tunnel. So where does this stream start and finish, and why is it still piped today?

This Stuff “Re-imagining Wellington” story explores the idea of letting the many streams running under our city see the light of day again and, in so doing, enrich our city’s living environment.
