Here’s an update from the Wellington City Council team. 9 January 2025

Construction of Golden Mile Revitalisation is still planned to start on Cambridge and Kent Terrace Intersection. Courtenay Place will follow, with Lambton Quay to come later.  

We expect to be able to start construction this year, but we have not announced a start date yet.  

We remain committed to ensuring that adequate notice is given ahead of any construction starting, and we will meet with directly affected residents and businesses to discuss construction, what can be done to minimise the impact, and any needs our construction team should be aware of.

Before construction starts, we look forward to sharing the final design so all Wellingtonians can better understand what the new Courtenay Place will look like, and the benefits it will bring to our city.
