How about visiting the waterfront this weekend? The Summer Sampler is on!

The Wellington Summer Sampler will be two months of roving performance, pop-ups, activations, and publicly accessible spectacles happening within the COVID safety guidelines every weekend along the waterfront.

The free and family-friendly line up will include everything from opera, to fire and circus performances, to contemporary dance, and all sorts of surprises. These performances are run by Spark & Flare.

Sat 11 December
12pm-1pm - Frank Kitts Park
After a difficult year of adapting their rehearsals to shifting lockdown levels you can finally catch two fresh, fantastic performances from the Wellington Youth Circus. The group has created an original show that includes elements of group acrobatics, tumbling, contortion and more.

11am & 2pm - Wellington Museum
The Cook Thinks Again self-guided audio tour invites locals and visitors to join a posthumous James Cook as he takes the audience on a walking tour of significant historical sites around Wellington's Waterfront. A fun and accessible opportunity for tourists and locals to reflect on the effect of colonisation and its legacy.

As a special offer for the Summer Sampler, Barbarians are offering the self-guided audio tour for free on December 11. Guided tours will be hosted at 11am and 2pm, including a post-tour discussion, facilitated by Jo Randerson and hosted by the Welington Museum. For the guided tour, please meet at the Bucket Fountain.

Sun 12 December - 1pm - Odlin Plaza
Music-making can be an enormously powerful experience, seen in the many wonderful musical traditions across the world. Through the sharing of music in rehearsals and performance, Wellington Community Choir celebrates diversity and promotes singing as a liberating and creative experience. Join them in Odlin Plaza as they lift their voice in an offering to Wellington.
